Our Mission
We believe that language certification should not be a luxury. Traditional English proficiency tests like IELTS and TOEFL cost hundreds of dollars, require in-person testing centers, and take weeks to deliver results. TestCEFR was founded to change that — using artificial intelligence to deliver accurate, CEFR-aligned assessments that are affordable, instant, and available to anyone with an internet connection.
We use OpenAI GPT-4o to help evaluate English language skills across all six core competencies, mapping them directly to CEFR. Scoring is calibrated to CEFR descriptors so results are practical for placement, progress tracking, and professional development alongside exams like IELTS and TOEFL.
Our Story
TestCEFR was built by a team of linguists, AI engineers, and educators who saw a gap in how English proficiency is measured and certified globally. While the CEFR framework is the international standard for language levels, accessing official CEFR certification has been expensive and slow. We combined cutting-edge AI scoring with the CEFR framework to create a platform that evaluates all six core language skills — grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening, speaking, and writing — in a single comprehensive assessment.
In 2024, we set out to change that. By combining advances in natural language processing with deep expertise in language assessment, we built a platform that delivers instant, CEFR-aligned proficiency evaluations from anywhere in the world — at a fraction of the cost.
